2nd Year Bible School

Through in-depth biblical study and training within an intentional community and cross-cultural setting, our second year program is designed to help you grow further in your life with Jesus Christ and being a 'torchbearer' to the world which desperately needs the light of the gospel.

Course Overview

Our second year program is for anyone who has completed a first year Bible school at any Torchbearers center and desires further study, training and ministry experience in a cross-cultural setting. We like to compare this program to the image of a set of train tracks. One rail is the Word - learning, studying and discussing. The other rail is practical service - serving one another and going on outreach. The track underneath the rails is the community, serving as a solid foundation - experiencing the indwelling, transformational life of Christ together. It is here, in this intense, life-giving and life-receiving community that spiritual formation takes place. This program is conducted in English only.

Rail One: The Word
For over 70 years, the central thrust of Torchbearers around the world has been the indwelling life of Christ found through the study of the Scriptures. Because of the small group size of our second year program, there is great potential for learning and studying together. The teaching format involves more discussion and time with teachers and staff. Outside of the classroom, there are focused times for students and staff to study Biblical subjects together, have book studies and work on assignments together.

Rail Two: Practical Service
Students will work alongside Albanian church leaders by serving in local churches both in Erseka and in surrounding village ministries. They will also have more responsibility in the school - living alongside and encouraging the first year students and leading by example.

The Foundation: Life in Community
At Crossroads, one of our principles is doing life together. Students will work and live closely with the leaders of the other Erseka ministries. Young Albanian and international leaders spearhead ministries to orphans and marginalized children through tutoring and a dynamic soccer ministry. Second year students will help deliver meals to elderly shut-ins and tutor Albanian children who are falling behind in school.

Location: Albania, Greece & Israel

The Second Year Bible School is an incredible opportunity to go deeper into the Scriptures and  develop your walk with Christ in a cross cultural, missional context. You will live on campus in Erseka, Albania, but will also travel inside and outside of Albania working alongside the local church and missionaries. Students will visit and study in Athens, Corinth, Philippi, Berea and Thessaloniki to learn more about Paul’s missionary journeys and the early church, first hand.

A trip to Israel will be planned during the second semester. Students will walk where Jesus, Peter, Jeremiah and Hezekiah walked. Imagine yourself on a boat on the Sea of Galilee together with your fellow students (but walking in Jesus’ footsteps at this point may be more difficult!)
